  • Work Experience: At least 1 year (1,560 hours) of related work experience in the past 3 years. Recent graduates in participating communities may be exempt from this requirement.
  • Education: A Canadian secondary or post-secondary credential or a foreign credential verified through an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
  • Language Proficiency: Meet the minimum language standards associated with the job category.
  • Financial Support: Demonstrate that you have enough funds to support yourself and your family members during the transition.

Benefits for Employers

For employers in participating communities, these pilots open doors to hiring the skilled talent they need. The program offers several perks, such as no requirement for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). However, employers must show they were unable to find local workers for the role.

Employers must also meet the following conditions to participate:

  • Be designated by their community before offering jobs under the program.
  • Operate in a priority occupation identified by their community.
  • Demonstrate compliance with training standards and have been in business for a minimum of two years (with some exemptions).
